THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO APPLE HILL FARM

Apple Hill Farm has been on my Bay Area bucket list for the past few years and I finally got to check it out for myself a few weeks back! Apple Hill Farm is located approximately 2.5 hours from San Francisco - about 30-45 min East of Sacramento.

Apple Hill Farm is super unique - it’s not just 1 big farm, it’s made up of a bunch of small farms all along Carson and Canyon Road in Placerville. If possible, I would recommend going during the week day as one of the farms we went to was CRAZY crowded. And I mean crowded!! While we still enjoyed our time there, trying their hard ciders and baked goods, we all felt a little uncomfortable with the crowds of people. I hear it’s much less crowded during the week so definitely recommended checking out Apple Hill Farm then if you’re able! If not, I would recommend the farms along Canyon Road - those were much less crowded than the ones along Carson Road. Lil tip for ya!

Our first pit stop (where these photos were taken) was Goyette’s! Highly recommend coming here if you want to check out a U-Pick apple place! After this, we went to Boa Vista which was along Carson Road and it was so crowded we just decided to leave after that as we had our friend’s baby with us and it was getting too warm and smokey to continue to stay outside. However, I would of loved to check out the following farms and wineries if we were able to! Another reason to come back :)

Apple Hill Farms: You can check out all the farms on Apple Hill’s website, which includes descriptions of each farm! But here are my top recommended farms to check out if you plan to visit:

  • Goyette’s (U-Pick Apples)

  • Rainbow Orchards (Best apple cider donuts!)

  • Boa Vista (Crowded on weekends, but has great selection of food, baked goods, pumpkin patch, and more)

  • High Hill Ranch (This was super crowded when we went with a long line to get in. But it is the largest farm of Apple Hill! Try checking this place out during the week when it’s less crowded)

  • Delfino (Hard Cider, Edio Wines)

  • Larsen Apple Barn (Closed on weekends but I’ve heard wonderful things about this farm! Has the iconic red barn - perfect photo opportunity!)

Wineries:*

  • Lava Cap (Lots of outdoor seating)

  • Wofford (Pretty views and overlooks American River)

  • Boeger (Further out on Carson Road but gorgeous property)

  • Jack Russel Brewery

*We tried to stop by Boeger winery on our way back to Sacramento but they were completely booked for the day! Definitely recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit any wineries. I didn’t expect them to be so busy!
