PLAID FLANNEL SHIRTDRESS

My grandfather or as I liked to call him, Big Dad, suddenly passed away last weekend. He was one hell of a man and I am so thankful to have memories of him filled with laughter, warmth, and duct tape (inside joke but he seriously could work wonders with it!) He accomplished so much during his life and was and always will be a true inspiration for me.

While the majority of my time over the weekend was filled with great sadness, it was such a joy to catch up with my aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family whom I had not seen in YEARS! It's sad that it takes a funeral to bring us all together but it is always a treat to see everyone and is a great reminder of how strong family bonds can be.

I always love to stop in the quaintest town of Middleburg, VA on the journey back to Dulles airport. It seriously is picture perfect! The town is filled with the cutest shops and restaurants so it is so fun to stroll about town. W and I made a reservation for brunch at the Red Fox Tavern which is the oldest original inn in the US! Established in 1728, it has had famous visitors such as George Washington and John F Kennedy! Brunch was drool worthy so it was so nice to be able to walk it off afterwards!

I kept my outfit (cute) and comfortable as it was going to be a long day of travel back to San Francisco. My plaid flannel shirt was just the perfect amount of warmth for the chilly fall day and my utility jacket was the perfect weight for the airport! Is it just me or are you always freezing in airports?! I also always have to wear closed toe shoes because my feet get so cold on airplanes!
